The Florida doctor accused of raping two women while they were under anesthesia for cosmetic surgery had been found dead in a ditch close to his home. In connection with the assaults on his 51- and 73-year-old patients, Dr. Eric Andrew Salata, 54, of Naples, was charged on Nov. 21 with two charges of sexual battery to a physically helpless person. On Tuesday, Nov. 29, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the doctor was found dead, the Naples Daily News reported. An incident report cited by the Daily Beast says Salata’s body was found during a welfare check after his ankle monitor hadn’t budged for several hours on Monday, Nov. 28. Two suspects of ‘one-chance’ kidnapping and robbery, were on Tuesday arrested while a female victim was rescued by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). According to a statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs Department, LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, the victim was rescued from the car of the suspects by the agency’s personnel monitoring traffic around Pedesbytrian Church, Yaba, Lagos. Three Nigerian migrants were rescued in Spain’s Canary Islands, after an 11-day journey from Nigeria crouched on the rudder of a ship. A spokesman for the Spanish Police noted that they should be returned home under stowaway laws. In a photograph distributed on Twitter by the Spanish coast guard, the three stowaways were shown crouching on the rudder under the hull, just above the waterline of the Alithini II. The 183-metre ship, sailing under a Maltese flag, arrived in Las Palmas in Gran Canaria after setting out from Lagos in Nigeria on November 17, and navigating up the West African coast, according to Marine Traffic. Earlier, it was reported that a statement that was published purportedly by Bayo Onanuga, a spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), said that the campaign had apologized to Duke. The Federal Government through the Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, has said the planned resumption of the Abuja-Kaduna train services previously scheduled for today was no longer possible. Sambo explained that some ticketing process needed to be sorted out stressing that the corridor has been fully secured and ready for operations but with the new requirements for ticketing. He said there was need for a little extension of time maybe by days or at most, one week. Newly appointed Osun governor, Ademola Adeleke has directed heads of Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Area Councils Development Areas (ACDAs) in the state to take control of the tasks of the sacked council chairmen and councillors. Police officers in Sokoto state have arrested two offenders in possession of 468 Permanent Voters’ Cards, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have said. This was made known on Sunday by Festus Okoye, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee. Although Okoye identified the first offender as Nasiru Idris, saying he was found with 101 PVCs in Sokoto States, the other culprit’s identity was not revealed. The INEC National Commissioner revealed that the man was caught with 367 PVCs and is currently being charged in court. Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has appealed to the Federal Government to discard any plan to end the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), saying the programme was yet to achieve its mandate. Diri said even the disarmament phase of the scheme has not been fully realised as arms and ammunition are still in the wrong hands in the Niger Delta. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday arraigned an Indian, Chandra Singh, before an Ikeja Special Offences Court over a N816 million fraud. The EFCC counsel, Mrs Bilikisu Buhari, told the court that the defendant on or before January 1, 2021, while in the employment of African Natural Resources and Mines Ltd solicited indirectly to confer undue advantage for his company, CVN Engineering Ltd, in order that he influenced his employee to award a supply costing N365m to CVN Engineering Ltd. The anti-graft agency also said that the defendant solicited indirectly to confer undue advantage for his company, Neo Paints Nigeria Ltd, in order that he influenced his employee to award a supply costing N451m to Neo Paints Nigeria Ltd.
