Peter Obi Wins With Wide Margin In Edo

The presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi has emerged victorious in Edo State with a wide margin. The Independent National Elecroral Commission’s (INEC’s) State Collation Officer for Edo, Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, who made the declaration in Benin, Edo State disclosed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is in distant third with the All Progressives Congress (APC) coming second. LP garnered 331,163 votes, APC had 144,471 votes while PDP got 89,585 votes with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) recording 2,743 votes. Speaking after performing his civic duty, the former vice president expressed optimism that the process will be hassle-free for voters. A 28-year-old man identified as Ekene Itodo, who allegedly obtained N1.2m from three people under false pretences of securing jobs for them, appeared at an Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State on Thursday. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Itodo is standing trial on five counts bordering on conspiracy, fraud and breach of peace. He, however, pleaded not guilty. INEC Postpones Enugu East Senatorial Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has postponed the Enugu East Senatorial District election earlier scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday in Enugu State. The chairman of the Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, who announced the postponement at a briefing in Abuja on Friday, said the election will now hold March 11 alongside the Governorship and State’s House of Assembly elections. The cancellation was sequel to the murder of the Labour Party (LP) candidate for the election, Oyibo Chukwu. Information Nigeria had reported that Chukwu was set ablaze alongside five supporters in his vehicle while returning to Enugu on Thursday.
