Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police. The Zazoo crooner was arrested on Friday after the 72-hour ultimatum given to him by the Ogun State police command expired. Recall that the singer was handed a 72-hour ultimatum by the police to report himself to the nearest police station after he was captured in a viral video resisting arrest by operatives of the force. Timipre Silva Reportedly Resigns As Minister Of State For Petroleum To Contest Bayelsa Guber

Timipre Sylva has reportedly resigned as the Minister of State for Petroleum to seek the ruling All Progressives Congress ticket in the upcoming governorship election in Bayelsa. According to sources who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity, Sylva reportedly handed his resignation letter last week to President Muhammadu Buhari, and stopped coming to the office. On Sunday 19 March 2023, nine (9) Chinese workers were brutally murdered at the Chimbolo mining site, 22 kilometres from Bambari in the Ouaka. The Central African authorities and the Command of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA), called on Russian instructors to help them evacuate the bodies of the victims to Bangui. On the same day, Russian instructors from Bambari, transported to Bangui two wounded and the bodies of the nine (9) Chinese engineers who died in the attack on Chingbolo attributed to elements of the UPC allied to the CPC, coordinated by François Bozizé Yangouvonda. The charge sheet, marked CR/266/2023 before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, also includes two lawyers, Muftau Ande and Dibiaezue Chuks, as well as the Utako Branch Manager of First Bank, Abuja. Lagos Records 52,652 Tuberculosis Cases In Four Years – Health Commissioner

The Lagos State Health Commissioner, Prof Akin Abayomi said 52,652 tuberculosis cases were recorded at the national level in four years. Prof Abayomi said 11,723 cases were captured in 2019; 10,150 in 2020; 13,499 in 2021; and 17,280 in 2022. Abayomi disclosed this on his Instagram handle @ProfAkinAbayomi on Sunday. He said Lagos state accounts for 11 per cent of TB cases in Nigeria with an estimated 54,000 persons projected to be suffering from TB, based on the National Incidence Rate of 219 per 100,000 population. The man, Kolade Ajayi, 52, was charged to court by the police for the alleged rape of girls, one of them a minor. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has revealed it plans to re-arraign a former Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, (JAMB), Prof. Dibu Ojerinde before Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja. Mr Ojerinde, a professor, who is already facing trial on N5 billion fraud charges at the same court, is expected to be arraigned alongside four of his children on the fresh charges today (Friday). Four Men Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Armed Robbery, Kidnap

A Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja on Thursday sentenced four men to death by hanging for armed robbery and kidnapping of a woman identified as Mrs Gloria Emole. The convicts – Victor Chukwunonso, Ifeanyi Maduaka, Obinna Nwankwo, and Richard Nwabueze – were sentenced for armed robbery and the kidnapping of a woman, Mrs Gloria Emole. Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo held that the prosecution was able to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt. The convicts were said to have committed the offences on November 19, 2012, at about 8.30 am. They were arraigned on July 13, 2013, and were remanded in prison custody. Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has reacted to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the suspension of the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, over allegations of anti-party activities.
