Uproar In Edo As Police Van Runs Over Handcuffed Man (Video)

The university town of Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State was thrown into turmoil on Thursday evening when a police van ran over a suspect who had been arrested, handcuffed, and made to lie half-clad. In a video that circulated online on Friday, the handcuffed man was seen lying down in front of the police van. While some people engaged the policemen in a discussion, the driver of the police van ran over the handcuffed man, dragging him along the road for a few metres. Four Injured Many Trapped As Two-Storey Building Collapses In Port Harcourt

  No fewer than four people have been injured with many feared trapped in a two-storey building, which collapsed, yesterday, at Rumuoke Street, off Okilton junction on Ada George Road, Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. INFORMATION NIGERIA reports that the collapsed structure was said to have been erected for the hospitality business and a sit-out bar. It was gathered that, aside from the four persons said to have sustained series of injuries, no life was lost in the incident. Lekki Port Receives First Transshipment Vessel

The management of Lekki Deep Seaport has announced the arrival of Rimbaud, the first transshipment vessel to call at the container terminal of the deep seaport. A statement by the port said that the vessel owned by CMA CGM shipping company, arrived at the terminal on Thursday. The statement added that the vessel came with cargo from two of the largest container shipping lines in the world, CMA CGM and Maersk. According to the statement, the vessel was carrying 411 twenty-foot equivalent units of transshipment cargo and had a nominal container handling capacity of 6,900 TEUs. A suspected child trafficker, Ekpereamaka Okonkwo, who runs a brothel alongside her husband in Oba community, in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been apprehended. Okonkwo was arrested by the Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare in collaboration with the Anambra State Police Command on Tuesday. Okonkwo, a nursing mother, recently had her brothel shut down by youths of the Oba community, where about nine underage girls serving as prostitutes were rescued. NDLEA Discovers Four Cannabis Farms In Bauchi Arrests 372 Drug Dealers

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Bauchi State Command in conjunction with 33 Artillery Nigerian Army have discovered and harvested cannabis farms in Alkaleri, Darazo, Ningi and Giade LGAs of the state. The State Commander, CN Ali Aminu, disclosed this while addressing journalists in his office at the Command Headquarters in Bauchi on Monday, June 26, 2023. The command also arrested 372 drug offenders, successfully prosecuted and convicted 103 of them and 31 other cases still pending in Court, while 73 drug users are being counselled and rehabilitated, majority of them through brief preventions. He said that the Command seized a total of 1,289.153 kilograms of different classes of drugs from August, 2022 to date. The West African Examination Council (WAEC) which was subpoenaed by the Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal to tender under oath, the certificate of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has failed to do so. Information Nigeria reports that the court had issued the order based on request of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate, Abdulazeez Adediran, that Sanwo-Olu lied on oath in his 2023 form EC9 by presenting a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in 2019. Jandor challenged the integrity of the sudden appearance and upload of Sanwo-Olu’s WAEC result on the verification portal and subpoenaed WAEC to come and tender the said 1981 certificate under oath in court. CBN Orders Banks To Obtain Social Media Handles Of Customers

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed commercial banks to obtain social media handles and digital identification of customers as a mandatory Know Your Customer (KYC) policy in the financial services sector.
