The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has warned Nigerian youths about the dangers of illegal migration as well as human trafficking. According to the agency over the weekend, the economic downturn is not peculiar to Nigeria alone, but a global phenomenon. Information Nigeria had reported that in a circular signed by Ekpo Nta, chairman of the national salary and wages commission, the federal government said it had approved the payment of an accoutrement allowance of N25,000 per quarter to medical and dental doctors in hospitals, medical centres and clinics in the federal public service. “The allowance is to be paid from the overhead budget,” the circular read. In another circular, FG said it had also approved a 25% increase in Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS). The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has finally transmitted the list of his proposed Commissioners and Special Advisers nominees to the State House of Assembly for confirmation. They also blamed government unpreparedness and lack of seriousness for the botched meeting. A man in Katsina State has reportedly divorced his 14-year old house wife for allowing a male medical practioner attend to her while giving birth to his baby. The teenage mother, who was divorced by the husband, was said to have had a complicated child birth, resulting to being rushed to the hospital where there was no female medical practioner on ground to attend to her. As a result, the only male medical practioner available attended to her during labour, a development that led to the crash of her marriage. A 43-year-old man identified as Dantata Bawa has been arrested for raping a four-year-old girl in Benue State. The incident occurred at the North Bank area of Makurdi, the state capital on Monday, July 24, 2023.
