The Plateau State Police Command on Thursday, said that its patrol team intercepted a truckload of suspected Indian hemp in the Kwata axis of the Jos South Local Government Area of the state. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the results of the Kogi State governorship election on November 11 will be sent electronically straight from polling units to its server. The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has suspended its candidate in the Feb. 25 presidential election, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for alleged anti-party activities. No Need To Panic, New COVID BA.2.86 Variant Not In Nigeria — NCDC

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Saturday, disclosed that there is no need to panic over the new COVID-19 variant. The agency, in a statement said it is monitoring the new subvariants of the Omicron variant named EG.5 and BA.2.86. According to the NCDC, the EG.5 variant is a descendant of XBB.1.9.2 which is itself a descendant of Omicron. It futhered that the variant has been reported in 51 countries including China, the United States, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Canada, Australia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, France, Portugal and Spain. “EG.5 causes symptoms like those seen with other COVID-19 variants, including fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches, headache, and sore throat,” the statement reads. “So far, only one case of EG.5 has been seen in Africa, it has not been identified in Nigeria. “The recently discovered/reported BA.2.86 is a descendent lineage of BA.2 (a sublineage of Omicron, also found in Nigeria in 2022). Port Harcourt Refinery’ll Begin Operations By December – FG Assures

The Federal Government (FG), has promised that the Port Harcourt refinery will begin operations by December 2023. Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, spoke in Port Harcourt, on Friday, during an inspection tour of the rehabilitation work at the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) Limited plant. Information Nigeria reports that Lokpobiri’s assurance follows a similar statement by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu earlier this month. He said the cancer diagnosis for Sound Sultan was late and that they thought he was suffering from malaria. He spoke during a podcast with Adesope released on YouTube on Thursday.
