Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State says his Deputy, Philip Shaibu has the right to contest the State gubernatorial election, come 2024. The Commission’s Zonal Commander, Aliyu Yunusa said this at the opening of a one-day EFCC Civil Society Organisations engagement organised in Sokoto on Thursday. Suspected Gunmen Attack, Kill Imo Businessman

Abuja-Based Kano Man Nabbed In Bauchi After Stealing Car From Kaduna Mosque

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Bauchi State have arrested Ibrahim Mohammed, a 25-year-old indigene of Kano State, for stealing a car at a mosque in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Mohammed, who hails from Unguwan Gyadi-Gyadi in Kano State but resides in Gwarinpa, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, was arrested by operatives attached to the Tilden Fulani Police Divisional Headquarters after he stole the vehicle and fled with it. Six Customs Officers Reject $54,000 Bribe Offered, Hands Over Money To EFCC

The Nigeria Customs Service, Tincan Island Command has disclosed that it has handed over a $54,330 bribe offered to the command by importers of tramadol tablets to the Lagos Zonal Commander of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr Michael Wekas. Disclosing this in a statement on Tuesday, the Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, Dera Nnadi, while handing over the money, stressed the tolerance for corruption stance of the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi. The Area Controller revealed that the imported tramadol tablets were falsely declared as electrical appliances valued at over N856m while the bribe was offered to compromise officers. Commending the officers for rejecting the bribe and working ethically and lawfully in the interest of national security, Nnadi said the act violated Section 233 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023. Youths in their numbers on Wednesday evening, took to the streets of Kano, protesting over the Appeal Court verdict that sacked Abba Yusuf as the Governor of the State. Lagos Landlord Bags Double Life Imprisonment For Defiling Tenant’s Two Daughters

The Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Monday gave a double life sentence to a 65-year-old man, identified as Igwe Ambrose for sticking his fingers into the private parts of his tenant’s seven- and eleven-year-old children. Justice Abiola Soladoye ruled that the prosecution had proven Ambrose’s four counts of sexual assault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child beyond a reasonable doubt. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency disclosed this in a statement posted on its X handle on Monday. According to the statement, the landlord committed the offences at Shagari Estate, Ipaja, between January and June 2021. Nigerian rapper and songwriter Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz, has narrated his near death experience he once had. In an interview on “Untapped”, the singer said the incident which happened on November 16, 2013, on a highway in Abuja, on their way to a wedding where he had been paid to perform. He said the incident involved him and two of his friends and claimed the life of their driver. The rapper that he and his friends started saying their last prayers because they felt like they were going to die too. They claimed it was a high profile wedding in the North, where Falz was paid a million naira by the client to perform. They were supposed to go by air but did not book their tickets on time, so a friend of his, Sule, advised that they go by road instead, which they did.
