Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has posited that allowing Nigerians to openly carry firearms will plunge the country into anarchy. The Kogi State Government has confirmed the rescue of 21 kidnap victims in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of the State. Onogwu Muhammed, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Yahaya Bello, made the confirmation in a statement released on Saturday evening. It was gathered that the 21 victims, who were kidnapped along Ajaokuta-Itobe road in Kogi State on Thursday, were rescued on Saturday by a joint team of security operatives, comprising personnel of the Nigerian Police Force, Civil Defence and local vigilantes. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, on Friday, approved the release of 246 inmates from various correctional facilities across the State. A statement issued by the State Attorney-General for Justice, Lawal Pedro, said the Governor also commuted 39 inmates on death row to life imprisonment. According to Pedro, Sanwo-Olu signed the release order on the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy and in cognizance of the new year celebration. Emefiele led this out in a statement on Sunday, titled: “Re; Emefiele, other stole billions, illegally kept Nigeria’s funds in foreign banks,” in reaction to the publication of the report of the Private Investigator by Jim Obazee. The Perth Sheriff Court ruled that the International Energy Studies student should be deported after serving his jail term.
