Borno on map The police in Borno have paraded a 46-year-old mother of two for abducting three children in Maiduguri. The police also paraded 58 other suspects who specialize in kidnappings and other crimes. The suspected abductor, who claims she is indulging in the act for the first time, said she was lured into the act by one ‘Lady B’ in Lagos who promised to take her abroad and make her rich. The suspect, Nsa Hensewa, said before embarking on the journey to Maiduguri, she was a businesswoman in Lagos and that she had lived in Maiduguri with her parents some 30 years back. Kwankwaso Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso , has declared that his party will take over Borno currently led by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, and other parts of the country in 2023. Kwankwaso made the declaration at Maiduguri, Borno State capital, shortly after he formally commissioned the party’s secretariat on Saturday. On Thursday, the secretariat was sealed by the Borno State Urban Development Board, but it was reopened on the instructions of the governor. ASUU Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) , has stated that the federal government should emulate former President Goodluck Jonathan in resolving the lingering industrial action. The strike, which began on February 16, is a result of the government’s inability to fully address the union’s demands. The industrial action has lasted for more than six months with the federal government, through the education and labour ministers, finding it difficult to reach a resolution. Speaking on the way forward, Osodeke, in an interview with AIT’s Focus Nigeria, stated that the immediate past administration engaged the union in a 14-hour negotiation to resolve the issue. He said the government of the day should set up a committee comprising people who love the country and can negotiate dispassionately. Keyamo Minister of State for Labour and Employment and spokesperson for the presidential campaign organisation of the All Progressives Congress, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has advised pastors and other clerics to learn lessons from 2015 and avoid throwing their weight behind some candidates. Keyamo, who spoke in an exclusive interview with The Punch NG in Abuja, also advised the clerics to “face their core mandates”. He said, “Having pastors tilt towards a particular candidate is a good thing for the country but after they fail, they will now go back to their core mandate. Ruger And BNXN Nigerian singer, Benson Daniel, popularly known as BNXN, has gone head-to-head with his colleague Micheal Olayinka, alias Ruger, on social media. The rift between the duo began in July when Ruger replied a BNXN fan who claimed the latter was a better singer. In his response, Ruger had insinuated that his success in the music industry was based on his solo songs while BNXN, formerly known as Buju, relied on collaboration to make hits. “I love Buju, he’s good but he’s not better than me.
