Bandits ‘Attack’ Military Checkpoint On Abuja-Kaduna Highway

Bandits Abduct Swiss National, Nigerian In Ogun

Bandits on Thursday evening reportedly engaged the military in a gun duel at a checkpoint in Zuma Rock Madalla, along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.

It is not yet clear if there were any casualties.

According to several sources, the incident led to a gridlock on the highway.

An eyewitness told Channels Television the attack started at about 8pm.

The police and military authorities were not immediately available to respond to the incident.

This latest attack on a military installation comes days after bandits attacked a unit of the presidential brigade guards, killing at least three soldiers.

Jonathan Former President Goodluck Jonathan has stated that he has no link to the northern coalition that purchased the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for him. Earlier on Monday, the coalition procured the forms for Jonathan from the International Conference Centre in Abuja. The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned corps members willing to participate in the 2023 general elections to be neutral and apolitical. Christy Uba, the acting director general of NYSC, disclosed this while addressing corps members on Saturday at the Mbaukwu/Umuawulu Permanent Orientation camp in the Anambra state’s Awka South Local Government Area. The 2023 Batch C members’ cultural carnival, which was held in Anambra, was observed by Uba.
