Banky W Solicits For Fund To Prosecute Election

Notable Nigerian singer, Olubankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, is soliciting for funds to run for political office in Lagos.

Banky W emerged the winner of the PDP House of Representatives primaries for the Eti-Osa federal constituency of Lagos State in June.

Banky W solicited public funding on his official social media handles on Monday afternoon while canvassing fans’ support in winning the seat in 2023.

He wrote: “If Impact is truly the goal, then we must no longer be content to shout from the sidelines; we must get into the system and fix it.”

Further aiding his request for public support, the singer highlighted that mainstream Nigerian politics is a complex and expensive venture.

He urged people to consider his post an invitation to a partnership with him through the journey.

Explaining his drive for political participation in April, he said, “The Nigerian people need candidates who will earn and treasure their right to serve. And as a nation, we need innovation and reform.”

Court Reverses Buhari’s ‘Illegal’ Sack of Ararume As NNPC Chairman

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has restored Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Ararume as non-Executive Chairman of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited. The Court on Tuesday voided the sack of the businessman and set aside the January 17 removal done by president Muhammadu Buhari on the ground that the action of the President was arbitrary, unlawful and illegal. The judge, Inyang Edem Ekwo awarded N5bn against Buhari and the NNPCL to be paid to Ararume as damages for the wrongful sack and disruption of his appointment. Immediately, Ekwo ordered that Ararume be restored to office as a non-Executive Chairman of the NNPC, while declaring as null and void all decisions of the company’s Board of Directors carried out in the absence of Ararume. Jonathan Former President Goodluck Jonathan has stated that he has no link to the northern coalition that purchased the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for him. Earlier on Monday, the coalition procured the forms for Jonathan from the International Conference Centre in Abuja. However in a statement issued on Monday night by Ikechukwu Eze, his spokesman, the former president said he didn’t authorise the purchase. “It has come to our notice that a group has purportedly purchased Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest forms of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the name of former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,” the statement reads.
